2020 was Bob Marley’s 75th Earthstrong anniversary, 75 years since he was born, and I worked with the Marley family and Universal Records to create a series of animations to celebrate some of the themes in his music.

The first was part of a series which was released in Earth Month (April). I did four animations each set to a Bob Marley song which told the story of a man planting a tree and nurturing it as it grows. In the final one he is able to build a house in its branches and have it support him. I did a lot of research into the animals and plants native to Jamaica to try and make the scene feel as authentically Caribbean as possible, I think my favourite inclusion is the Doctor Bird in the second video.

The second animation was in celebration of 420 culture and was released on 20th April. In it, I wanted to recreate the feeling of two friends hanging out and smoking on a light and breezy spring day.
